Environment Value Comps
First week of the Atelier Apprenticeship; My first attempts at environments were certainly less than stellar, so I'm back to the basics with these comps, in particular paying mind to composition and creating depth with value. Even in just a week, I feel like I've made strides in how I go about approaching digital painting. Environments have always been my weakest link, even though it's a huge part of what I want to actually do, so refining this process is elating.

FEAST OF EXODUS - Character Designs
Character design final! It was a very loose prompt so I incorporated a concept that I've been wanting to develop. The story revolves around an unlikely trio as they journey across a kingdom ravaged by a bitter rebellion. There are a lot of themes concerning family, birthright, classism, corruption, judgement, and power.
Fellis Uelen has traveled far from his homeland in search of his brother, Lorne, who long ago murdered their father and ran off. His journey takes him to a kingdom within a shrouded valley, isolated from the rest of the world. Fellis is quickly swept up in a revolution against the kingdom's royals, who have abused the extracted magical elements from the Earth and become power hungry tyrants. Along the way, he meets Charl and Savis, two Wood Elf siblings who, having been the last survivors of their tribe, seek out the protection of the Revolutionary Army.
There are a few other key characters left to flesh out, so I may come back to this project in the future. I had a great time rendering these characters like this. I plan to continuously push myself to this level and beyond over the summer with other concepts.
